Haystack Rock: Oil Painting
Artist: Walt Wirfs
Size: framed, 20" by 16"
Finished: Aug. 2011
From sunset photograph by Char Wirfs taken on a walk along the beach at Pacific City, Oregon in Jan. 2011. Haystack Rock is one of the many large, natural-rock monoliths along the Pacific Coast. These huge rocks provide refuge to many bird and sea-life species and are protected areas. In the 19th century and early 20th century boat loads of tourists would visit the rock shooting as many creatures as they could.
